Bruce Cope

Dr. Bruce Cope is a board-certified pediatrician with Sandhills Pediatrics in Lexington, SC.  He is married to Stephanie, his high school sweetheart, for over 25 years. They have two children, Macy and Hampton. They are an avid tennis family and enjoy watching both kids compete.  Bruce enjoys fly fishing, sports and spending his free time with his family.  As members of RADIUS church, the Cope family continually challenge and sharpen each other spiritually.

In his words:

“In January 2010, a devastating earthquake struck Haiti. Tragically, thousands were injured, killed or displaced.  I must confess… Initially, I thought I would just send money. It was my good friend Tye Whitaker who  bluntly said, “ God doesn’t want your money. He wants you.”  Frightened initially by the stories emerging with what I might be called to do, I quickly found a sense of peace and purpose granted by God.

The trip changed me in every sense of the word. We found ourselves treating the injured, the sick, and the emotionally shaken people in a tent city in Geiskie.  The first day I treated over 100 people. It was a trend that lasted the entire time in country.

I was honored to be surrounded by fellow Christians who were as ill-prepared and ill-informed as myself, but who share a higher calling to help.  Haiti changed the way I see life.  I am blessed. I am blessed with a great family, friends and a profession that allows me to make a difference. Most of all, the ordeal strengthened my walk and faith.  My heart, like all those involved, was eternally altered and that is how HOF was born.  I continually pray for our boys and through God’s love and mercy they will become a light in a very dark and troubled country.”
